The Special Education and Response to Intervention Strand of the Center on Instruction is part of the Comprehensive Center Network co-funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Elementary and Secondary Education and Office of Special Education Programs. The purpose of the Special Education and Response to Intervention Strand is to build the national knowledge base in areas related to effective and efficient delivery of instructional services to students with disabilities. With a particular emphasis on literacy, mathematics, and response to intervention in kindergarten through grade 12, the project synthesizes, summarizes, and meta-analyzes existing research to create materials to support the 16 regional comprehensive centers' work with state departments of education to ensure that all students receive appropriate instruction.
