New VGC project to develop professional development for Texas teachers on the revised ELAR TEKS
The Vaughn Gross Center is collaborating with The University of Texas System and the Children’s Learning Institute to develop and conduct professional development sessions for Texas teachers on the revised Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for English Language Arts and Reading. The sessions will be delivered in a training of trainers format with education service centers and large districts participating in 2-day training sessions in Austin, Houston, and Dallas during the spring of 2009. The revised TEKS will serve as the English Language Arts and Reading curriculum framework for kindergarten through 12th-grade classrooms beginning with the 2009–2010 school year.
