Deborah Reed wins spot on Doctoral Student Scholars in Special Education Research through national competition

Deborah Reed, a project manager at the Meadows and Vaughn Gross centers and a doctoral student at The University of Texas at Austin, has been selected through a national competition to participate in the inaugural cohort of Doctoral Student Scholars in Special Education Research.

Reed and nine other “Doctoral Student Scholars from across the United States will participate in a series of online seminars designed to foster connections among students at different universities and contribute to raising the standard of scholarship through sustained inquiry into the question, ‘What makes for excellence in special education research?’” according to a Council for Exceptional Children Division for Research (CEC-DR) press release.

Among the special education scholars who will lead the seminars are Karen Harris of Vanderbilt University, Bryan Cooke of the University of Hawaii, and Michael Coyne of the University of Connecticut. The culminating seminar, focusing on graduate student development in special education research, will be held at CEC’s Convention and Expo from April 1 to 4, 2009, in Seattle.
