Brown Bag
Greg Roberts, Associate Director of MCPER, presented his findings from a recent study on February 10. In this presentation, entitled Estimating and Comparing Reading Achievement Trends Across Three Primary Language Groups, normative reading trajectories through fifth grade for the population of English-proficient language minority (Spanish- and Asian language-speaking) students attending U.S. public schools are presented and discussed.

MCPER Distinguished Lecture
William Tunmer, Distinguished Professor of Educational Psychology in the School of Educational Studies at Massey University in New Zealand, discussed Defining Dyslexia on January 29. This presentation draws on contemporary theory and research on reading development, reading difficulties, and reading intervention to describe four key components of a definition of dyslexia, with particular attention focused on the critical role of intervention in the conceptualization of dyslexia.
