Stephanie Stillman, Assessment Coordinator for MCPER’s CSR and CREATE projects, presented her dissertation research on November 20 in the Pittenger Room. Her presentation, entitled The Making of Martyrs and Monsters: The Politics of Memory in the Aftermath of School Shootings explores the ways in which the memories of school shootings are framed and stored in the networks of memory in order to advance particular religious, political, and social agendas. The foundation of Dr. Stillman’s work is the numerous interviews with individuals in her hometown of Littleton, Colorado, 8 years after the shooting at Columbine High School.
